Why EyeTelemedics?
Training Staff
The EyeTelemedics team will train insurers’ staff members to use any mobile, stationary, or handheld fundus camera on their own. In doing so, we can teach your staff how to acquire and transmit images using HIPAA-compliant technology to where the images are viewed, graded, and interpreted by our readers. This approach holds the potential for screening the entire diabetic population for retinopathy at a given site and is more efficient for the patient, providers, and the insurers.
Initial training sessions will include an introductory lecture discussing the public health impact of telemedicine for people with diabetes, the anatomy of the eye, pathology, and imaging.
Patient Referral/Follow-up
There are many factors that contribute to why a patient with diabetes who needs a follow-up will not schedule the appointment. These include transportation costs, medical expenses, and poor diabetes management skills. Our program establishes proven methods of documentation, management, and communication for patients, insurers, and managing physicians.
Results and Benefits
We developed the EyeTelemedics diabetes management program in an effort to improve compliance, detection, management, and follow-up adherence in persons at high risk for Diabetic Retinopathy and other eye diseases, which can result in preventable blindness. We will provide you with a detailed report within the next business day.
